1. Go to www.ClubPenguin.com, and click on the 'Play Now' button.
2. Click on 'Unlock Items Online' button.

    I tried it and it worked!

    First book gives you 1500 coins and a clothing item which is a blue book.
    Second book gave me 2000 coins!
